  • 2. How about• The Pacific Ring of Fire is an area where large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruption in the Pacific Ocean.• The Ring of Fire has 452 volcanoes.
  • 3. Earthquake• About 90% earthquake of the world along the Ring of Fire.• The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is the third most prominent earthquake belt.
  • 4. Plates• The Ring of Fire is a direct result of plate tectonics.• The eastern section of the ring is the result of the Nazca Plate ant the Cocos Plate.
  • 5. Plates 2• Along the northern portion the northwestward moving Pacific plate is being subducted beneath the Aleutian islands.• West the pacific plate is being subducted beneath the along the Kamachatka Peninsula arcs.
  • 6. Plates 3• The southern portion is more complex with a number of smaller tectonic plates.• Since it lies in the center of its tectonic plate.
  • 7. Plates 4• Indonesia lies between the Ring of Fire along the northeastern islands.• The famous and very active San Andreas Fault zone of California is a transform fault.
