  • 4. What is a literature review? ● A literature review is an account of publishing on a topic by accredited scholars and researchers. ● Purpose of writing literature review is communicating knowledge and ideas have been established on a topic.
  • 5. Getting skills two areas Writing a literature review is not only enlarging your knowledge but also gaining and demonstrating skills two areas: 1. Information seeking 2. Critical appraisal
  • 6. A literature review do four things A literature review must do four things: 1. Be organized around and related directly to the thesis or research question you are developing. 2. Synthesize results into a summary of what is and is not known.
  • 7. A literature review do four things 3. Identify areas of controversy in the literature. 4. Formulate questions that need further research.
  • 8. Conclusion ● A literature review is a piece of discursive prose, not a list describing or summarizing one piece of literature after another.
