  1. 1. Audio Effects Ryan Gault
  2. 2. Distortion Distortion is the alteration of the original shape of a sound. It is often used in Heavy Metal and Rock music to give a heavier sound.
  3. 3. This is a clip from ‘My Curse’ by Killswitch Engage WITHOUT Distortion
  4. 5. And now that same guitar riff WITH distortion, it has a rhythm guitar and a drum track over it also, listen carefully…
  5. 6. Delay Delay is an audio effect which records an input signal, and then plays it back after a period of time, similar to the Echo effect, but with no faint playback. With guitars it is often used to give one player the sound of two; this is very useful in solos.
  6. 7. U2’s ‘Bad’ intro guitar riff WITHOUT delay
  7. 9. Now that same guitar riff WITH delay…
  8. 10. Echo Much like delay, however with a fainter following sound; in audio signal processing and acoustics, an echo is a duplication or rather reflection of a sound, arriving to the listener sometime after the direct so u nd, often in a more faint copy.
  9. 11. Wah-Wah Wah-wah is an imitative word for the sound of altering the resonance of musical notes to extend expressiveness, sounding much like a human voice saying “wah”.
  10. 12. Jimi Hendrix’s All Along The Watchtower WITHOUT Wah-Wah (the original song audio)
  11. 14. The same riff but WITH the Wah-Wah effect that I recorded myself
  12. 15. Reverberation Reverberation is the persistence of sound in a particular space after the original sound is removed.
  13. 16. Phaser Phaser is the phasing effect created by splitting an audio signal into two paths.
  14. 17. And that’s some of the most Well known effects. 
