New Moon
- 2. Introduction
The Lord created the
moon for signs & seasons
This was evident with
ancient Israel who based
their system of keeping
time on the cycles of the
moon

- 3. What Is the New Moon?
A new moon indicates a beginning of a month
The bible reveals that God commanded Israel to
honor and observe each New Moon by blowing a
trumpet over their offerings as a memorial to Him
(Numbers 10: 10 & Numbers 28: 11-14)
The New Moon was also re-established by the
leaders of Israel when the temple was rebuilt after
their return from captivity of Babylon (Ezra 3: 5,
Nehemiah 10: 33 & Colossians 2: 14-16)

- 4. Why We Observe the
New Moon Today?
Isaiah 66: 22-23
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will
make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall
your seed and your name remain.
And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to
another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh
come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

- 5. Why We Observe the
New Moon Today?
Take note of the words “new heavens” & “new earth”
This scripture indicates that God’s people will
continue to observe the New Moon even in the “New
Kingdom”
If God commands that we will honor the New Moon
when we are in the New Kingdom it is evident to us
that we should keep the New Moon while on this earth
It should be noted that there is no record of the new
moon as being a Holy Day except the New Moon of
the 7th month, which is the Feast of Trumpets

- 6. Hebrew Months
By observing the New Moon we are also able to
determine the appropriate dates to keep all holy days
appointed by God
These dates are based upon the Hebrew calendar
months and are found in the books of Exodus through
Deuteronomy
On the next slide are a list of the Hebrew Months with
corresponding holy days
When the year is longer, a 13th month is added
