FRIENDS during Kiddush. RABBI’S CORNER SHABBAT, PARSHAT PINCHAS Dear Young Israel Families, While we are following very closely and responding to what’s taking place in Eretz Yisrael, I did want to take the opportunity to share some good news from the NJ State Government. Recently, Governor Christie approved the 4.5 million dollar increase in Non-Public School Technology and Nursing Aid made by the Legislature in the State Budget. Combined with the 1 million dollar increase he made to Chapter 193 funding, we now have the single largest increase in Non Public School aid in New Jersey in comparison to the past number of years. NJ Non Public Schools will receive a total of 15.5 million dollars in increased State aid in comparison to 3 years ago. How does this practically help the NJ Day Schools we send our children to? Each school will receive $32 per student instead of $20 in funding for Technology. Each school’s funding for Nursing will now be approximately $94 per student instead of $77.20. YIEB should be proud that we partnered with the OU and Josh Pruzansky to accomplish these changes. We hosted our representatives numerous times in our Shul, we developed relationships with them and we visited them in Trenton. In fact, it was our (18th district) State Senator Peter Barnes, a member of the Senate Budget Committee, who was very instrumental in securing those funds for our community day schools. He has been a true friend and advocate on behalf of our community. We need to express our gratitude to Senator Barnes for his leadership in helping secure these funds for our children. You can email him at or call him at 732.548.1406. I hope we realize that these results are only a “drop in the bucket” of what we can accomplish in securing government funding for our children’s education. To get more involved, please speak to me. Best wishes for a Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Jay Weinstein ___________________________________________ YIEB BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Thursday, July 24th at 7:00 PM ______________________________________________ ENHANCED KIDDUSH NOSH HONORING KIM & MITCH GERMAN This Shabbat's Kiddush Nosh has been enhanced by members of the Kiddush Nosh Committee and friends of the Germans in Hakarat Hatov for all of their work to ensure the success of Kiddush Nosh. Mitch purchased the food for many years and Kim scheduled the set-up person for every Nosh since the Nosh program was initiated about 9 years ago. They and their children have filled in setting up whenever no one else was available. Please join us in wishing the entire German family Hatzlacha and Tzetchem L'shalom as they make Aliyah. ___________________________________________ Jay Weinstein, Rabbi 732.354.5912 (cell) 732.254.1860 x2 (office) Bertin Lefkovic, Editor Jeff Chustckie, President Yaakov Wasser, Inaugural Rabbi (1979-2009), Retired

Are you posting your resume on every single job board and group you can find only to have no results? Well the OUJB may have an answer for you. It is time to stand out from the crowd and move ahead. Here is what we can do for you! Level 1 - Prior to sending your cover letter and resume to the employer, send it to us for critique. Although we will not fix your resume or cover letter we will comment on how to improve your chances of getting noticed by the employer. We will also send a follow up note to the employer about your application one week after you send your application in (if the employer accepts resumes strictly through e-mail- no government or online applications). The cost of this service is $10 per application. Packages of 5 applications will cost you only $40.00. Level 2 - Same as above, but in addition we will correct your resume and cover letter, transforming it into an updated application that will hopefully catch the employer's eyes. If you are multi-talented and can apply for different types of jobs, we will target your resume and cover letter for each of the jobs you are applying to. Cost per application will be $25.00 and a package of 5 will cost $100.00. Level 3 - Same as level 2, but we will give you a mock interview either live or via Skype. We will also advertise your resume anonymously to employers through our social media arm to expose your presence to a much wider audience (this service is not yet available but will be a feature when our new website goes live). Cost is $35.00 per application. Sometimes a small investment can make all the difference in your approach and life. Our services will provide you with comprehensive employment opportunities, costing hundreds if not thousands of dollars below market value. The best thing of all, it is tax-deductible. For any questions and if you're interested in moving forward please contact us at, and let us get to work to get you hired! ___________________________________________ EMPLOYMENT NETWORK OF RARITAN VALLEY Looking for work? 4. 4. ~Young Israel of East Brunswick Israel Advocacy Committee~ ~Emergency Action Appeal~ July 10, 2014 Dear YIEB Members, Israel has never known a moment’s peace in its history- its civilians are being bombarded again with terrorist missiles launched from Gaza. As Israel responds to current terrorist groups’ missile attacks, our hearts are with our brothers and sisters in harm’s way. Here’s how we in East Brunswick can support Israel and its people: • Yashar Lachayal’s Ari & Sari Horowitz Memorial Fund - Targeted, Direct Tzedakah: Donate by direct link to the Fund at . This Fund is named in memory of our dear friends and YIEB members, Sari & Ari Horowitz z”l, who had a special place in their hearts for helping to ease the burden of the brave IDF soldiers. YIEB has developed a special relationship with Yashar Lachayal, whose mission is to “bring soldiers in the IDF what they need, when they need it”. The organization provides for basic needs of the Chayalim who are defending Israel with their own lives. Due to Yashar Lachayal’s founders’ generosity, 100% of donations are used to purchase & distribute these greatly needed supplies, rather than being used to defray administrative overhead costs. The Fund was established last summer specifically to provide food, clothing, and other necessities to needy IDF soldiers who come from impoverished family circumstances. The Fund will now focus its aid for the soldiers on their most immediate needs due to current combat conditions. Please donate online in Ari & Sari’s memory so brave IDF soldiers may receive the benefit of your donation without delay while they protect Israel. • Political Action: Contact your US Congressional Representatives and Senators and urge them to stand with Israel by making a public statement of support for Operation Protective Edge and Israel’s right to defend itself. Go to the OU’s action page at: . • Prayer for the IDF: Recite the Tefilah for the Members of the Israel Defense Forces (text in both Hebrew & English). • Recite Tehillim: (Worldwide continuous) or http://www.mechon- (text in both Hebrew & English). • Pair with a Combat Soldier: Let us devote ourselves to Torah learning, Tefillah, and performance of Mitzvot and good deeds in the soldiers’ merit. Sign up, free, at to pair with an active-duty IDF combat soldier. Help unify and connect all of Am Yisrael and increase each soldier’s spiritual merit and protection. • Hasbara: Spread truth about terrorist groups’ aggression against Israel. Share facts concerning the situation in Israel with friends & colleagues to combat the prevalent misinformation in the media. Excellent websites include: ; ; . May Hashem protect Israel, her soldiers, and citizens during this difficult, dangerous round of Arab attacks and defensive Israeli actions. Let us stand united & provide much needed support to our Israeli family. Sincerely, Judy Goldrich & Cheryl Shmulewitz Rabbi Jay Weinstein Co-Chairs, YIEB Israel Advocacy Committee Young Israel of East Brunswick
