Sincerely, YIEB Healthee Committee _________________________________________ Thank you very much, Jonathan Gardner ********* In Memory of Dana Zoey Shmulewitz Dana Zoey (Ora Adira) came into our lives on January 12, 2014. Unfortunately, Dana faced an uphill battle from the start, because of her prematurity, and succumbed to those challenges on January 14, 2014. In the course of Dana’s short life, we were touched by incredible kindness, and caring, from people all around us. Quite a few of those people were on the teams that were caring for our family at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Whether on the medical, social, or maintenance services teams, all of the staff treated us with incredible compassion. Not only was everyone committed to providing top-notch medical care, but we felt like everyone who cared for us was sincerely interested in the well-being of all of our family members. The Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment team not only took the time to fully assess the scope of Dana’s health concerns, but also answered every
    • one of our (many) questions. We felt so supported as we faced the anticipated “rocky beginning” that the team expected for Dana. We are so grateful for this. The team in the Special Delivery Unit worked tirelessly to help mitigate the impact on her health, when Dana came unexpectedly early, while also working to take care of our health so that we could get down to the NICU as soon as possible. Those extra moments that we were able to spend with Dana are priceless to us. Finally, we were deeply moved by the NICU team. From the moment that Dana entered the world, the NICU team fought non-stop to help her overcome all of the challenges that she faced. What moved us so deeply though, was that throughout this fight, the team treated Dana with incredible dignity and gentleness. We felt so reassured, knowing that the team was fighting for Dana, just was we would. While we are devastated to have lost our little girl, we are so grateful to the people at CHOP for the incredible compassion that we’ve been shown over the past few months. We hope that Dana continues to inspire compassion and generosity from us, and the people around us. We are so proud of Dana for the incredible legacy that she was able to leave in just two days of life. We've received so much kindness from several organizations in the course of our journey with Dana. We've selected CHOP for donations, in her honor, to help ensure that the compassion, and superior medical care, that we were shown continues, and expands, in Dana's memory. The link to Dana's CHOP tribute page follows: http://giving.chop.edu/goto/Dana_Zoey -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------BIKUR CHOLIM/SHIVA DIVISION Thank you to the many members of the community for their ongoing support and assistance to families during Shiva.
