We wanted to work with BOH students to
understand how they worked with their
material so we could gain insights into the best
way to structure the portfolio.
Our Initial Approach
Our First Misconception
We had assumed that
students would see the
relevance of learning how
to develop a portfolio.
Student feedback suggested
they saw no real point in
spending time on this and
that it created pressure on
an already busy workload.
We did find interest
was high with staff
involved in developing
Two Professional Portfolios we then created
We worked with staff
to refine the structure
Where to in 2008
• Investment by external funding groups – rSmart & IBM
• Ongoing discussions with DCNZ about a national system
• Continued testing and development of the prototype
• Work with staff & students to develop personal portfolios
