  2. 2. GENRE <ul><li>The book El Bronx Remembered is by Nicholasa Mohr and is a non-fiction book. The character are non-fiction. They are based on true stories that many immigrant children have told through out centuries. Many immigrant families can related to the Fernandez </li></ul>
  3. 3. Main character <ul><li>Mrs. Fernandez is the mother of all eight children. Graciela Fernandez was a strong mother. Mrs. Fernandez would never complain about the small apartment that all her eight children and all pets had to share. Graciela Fernandez was a mother that encouraged her eight children to do better. Mrs. Fernandez lived in a quiet area never came out of her apartment fear of getting lost. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Main character <ul><li>Mr. Fernandez was a strong man that had lots of courage. He believed that him and his family one day were going to own lots of land and be one of the wealthiest in the land. He told stories to his family. Mr. Fernandez worked hard to feed his family. He loved his family . He tried to keep his family together and convinced them that one day they would own life stock and they would leave the big city to life a farm life. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Main character <ul><li>Another main character in the book El Bronx would be Hector. Hector was bullied in school because of the social status he lived in. Hector was humiliated by other piers and was also rejected by many people. He only had to best friends, he loved his pets. He loved his family and he believe all the stories that his father told him. He believed one day he was going to be powerful and owned his own farmland. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Setting <ul><li>The story takes place in new york city also called the South Bronx. The South Bronx is known as the lower class. Were many unprivileged kids live their daily lives. The South Bronx is described as a city that many people go to live to when they cant afford to provide for their families. </li></ul>
  7. 7. First main event <ul><li>The first main event of this book called El South Bronx took place in the small apartment of the Fernandez. Mrs. Fernandez got annoyed of the small living space of her apartment and the animals that did not in the apartment Mrs. Fernandez got tired of the noise and chocked one of the animals. The children thought the chicken was dead she felt guilty. This was one of the out burst that Mrs. Fernandez had in the begging of the book. Her children did not know what happened to their mother when she decided to choke the chicken. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Second main event <ul><li>The second main event of this book called El South Bronx took place in the school that the Fernandez children went to. The oldest was a boy. He had to wear his uncle worn out shoes. The oldest of eight was bullied and humiliated. Children from his school called him names and picked on him because his “new” shoes had dead bugs on them and also were ripped and were to big on him. </li></ul>

The third main event <ul><li>The third main event of this book called El South Bronx took place in Puerto Rico when the family Fernandez decided to move to the South Bronx and they decided to see everything they owned like for example their farmland and their live stock. They decide to risk everything they had to become a better family. Mr and Mrs Fernandez decided to risk their wealth beginning to give their children a better live and to go to a better school. </li></ul>LIVESTOCK

The fourth main event <ul><li>The fourth main event for the book called El Bronx Remembered is when they go to church and the minister is telling them to say what their name is and why were they there. The minister also told them not to be afraid and to feel free to speak out. The youngest did not know what was going on but he did as he was told. He did not talk back to the minister He followed all the minster prayers and tried to repeat what he said. </li></ul>

The fifth main event <ul><li>The fifth main event for the book called El Bronx Remembered is when When Mr. Fernandez would make all of his eight children sit together and hear explain the beautiful sights of Puerto Rico and would make them describe how they wanted their future to be like and how and why they wanted to be. They described to the last detail of their home to the biggest detail of how they would work in their own family grown gardens </li></ul>
  12. 12. theme <ul><li>The theme of the book El Bronx Remembered is to take chances with live if you believe in it there is nothing that can hold you back if you set your mind to it. Another great them for this incredible book is that if you dont have anything nice to say to someone to say anything at all. Another great theme for this incredible book would be treat others the way you want to be treated. </li></ul>

The strength and courages things people do to achieve the American dream. I loved this book it taught me a valuable lesson. And of course I would recommend this book to anyone. </li></ul>
