TFN 2008 Route Day 4: Virajpet to Kalpetta
I set out at sunrise riding east. That means against the Sun. The road continued to be bad till
Ponnampet. From there it was bad too till Kerala except for some stretches of newly done
Puri and Egg mas ala for breakfas t at the outs kirt of Gonikoppal.
Into the well.
At Ponnampet both ways go to Thopetty, Kerala. I as ked s omeone which way was better, for cycle.
He s howed me left. I doubted he unders tood my ques tion. However, I went left.
At s ome point where the road was good.
Entered Kerala after going the wrong way at the border town of Kutta. I even had to pedal uphill
becaus e of the navigation error.
Kerala meals at the border check pos t.
The Cros s before me. The Dilemma behind me. It's right to Sultan Bathery. It's
left to Kalpetta but clos er. I went left.
The Kabini river.
20 Km to Kalpetta I saw the Sun was setting. I was late. I was far.
Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go. – TS Eliot
10 Km to go. It was dark. I rode and rode through the woods. Through the dark. I reached
Kalpetta around 1900. It was a little trouble than the previous days finding accommodation but I
did find one. A good one.
