  2. 2. Getting Started   Sign in with your Barnes and Noble account or create an account exclusively for PubIt!  Self-contained website (no software needed).
  3. 3. Four easy steps.You must enter yourbank informationand a credit card inorder to access PubIt!
  4. 4. You can upload a book immediately upon completing the four steps. This is your PubIt! Homepage.
  5. 5. To add a title, you will need to follow the six steps. Preview your formatting. Formatting tips are available under the “Support” tab.
  6. 6. Preview on NOOK andNOOK Color.I uploaded a .docx Someminor tweaking might beneeded, but overall theformatting held up.
  7. 7. I created a cover in Microsoft Publisher and saved it as a JPG.Steps 4 & 5 are an opportunity to provide more information aboutyour book including target audience, subject categories, keywords,editorial reviews and a description. It typically takes 24 to 72 hours for your book to go on sale after clicking “Put On Sale.”

A few things…ISBN• You can upload a 13-digit ISBN that you purchased specifically for your Nook Book.• If you do not an ISBN, B&N will assign an internal 13-digit code.• If you have an ISBN tied to a print edition, you cannot reuse it for your Nook Book.DRM (Digital Rights Management)• DRM is a technology that is intended to prevent unauthorized downloading of your eBook. You can choose to have DRM or not in Step 4. You cannot change your DRM setting after you place your book on sale.

Track your sales & payments You will be paid via an Electronic Funds Transfer 60 days after the close of the calendar month in which the sales occurred; you must have a minimum of $10 in royalties.Publisher will be paid a royalty off the List Price according to the followingterms: For eBooks with a List Price at or between $2.99 and $9.99 65% of the List PriceFor eBooks with a List Price at or below $2.98 or at or greater than $10.00(but not more than $199.99 and not less than $0.99) 40% of the List Price
  10. 10. Marketing your NOOK Book Read In Store™ LendMe™ PubIt! NOOK Books will be Samples included in these programs. eGifting B&N “independently selects” which NOOK Books to merchandise. You can email them at to be considered. Take your time on Steps 4 & 5 when describing your book, adding keywords, etc. This will help readers find your book. Place the PubIt! badge on your website to take readers directly to your Nook Book. Participate on the PubIt! Facebook page to get ideas from fellow PubIt! authors.

Pros Barnes and Noble’s marketing programs. Opporutnities to add keywords, etc. Selling through, NOOK devices and NOOK software FREE. Support through the FAQ, PubIt Community Board, PubIt! on Facebook or by email at Simple interface. Ability to make changes after publication and “republish.”
  12. 12. Cons If you change the title after placing it on sale, you will lose existing reviews, sales rankings and links to other products with the previous title name. Cover must be designed and uploaded by you. No extra services like editing or cover design available through site.
