      • You are requested to do the following exercise with your learning partner (either in person or by telephone). Discuss your results from Self-Employment: Is it for me? and discuss the following questions with each other:
      • Have they ever seriously considered working for themselves as an alternative to working for others? What does the person know about their self-employment potential from past experience? Review the results of the self-assessment exercises and discuss these with reference to their perception of their potential. Are you prepared to help a client explore this area as a career option? Please post your thoughts and feelings about this process in your Action Learning Log.
    4. Problem Solving Case Study
      • You are working as a career advisor for a local community agency. A recently married couple comes in to your office to discuss starting a business.
      • They are both 24 years of age and have lived in this area all of their lives. They both:
        • have part time jobs in the service sector (waiter, prep-cook).
        • no debt nor do they have savings at this time.
        • enjoy cooking and baking and are considering a catering business.
        • would like to form a business partnership together.
      • What are the main things that you would discuss with them in your first session?
