  • The use ICLT and adaptive technology is particularly effective in reducing barriers to the curriculum. A third of all learners are working towards accreditation in functional skills English, maths and/or information and communications technology (ICT). To make ILPs fully accessible to learners they are kept on personal electronic storage devices and this helps to develop learners’ information and communication technology (ICT) skills. In their last inspection the college was judged to have an innovative approach to technology to promote and capture achievement; for example, each learner was helped to build up a web-based record of their progress over time. December 8, 2010
  • So a useful tip here – is to try to avoid judging the provision – in this case the use of technology itself – or the availability of the hardware, etc. Instead, judge your effectiveness CLICK by measuring the difference your use of technology makes to the learners at each stage of their learner journey CLICK. But I wonder how many of you here will tell me that the problem is that it’s difficult to gauge impact – because you won’t know what difference it’s made until the results come in ... You won’t really know impact until next year... Hmm. Stand up – if you aren’t able to gauge impact until you have the success rates. I think I might want to challenge you on that one. CLICK
  • And here – saving the best ‘til last...... OK – so all learners have ILPs and these are kept on personal electronic storage devises but so what? So what? The plans are fully accessible So what? This helps to develop learners’ ICT skills So what? This helps to inspire learners... So what? This enables then to actively participate in review meetings...... No wonder. Full of impact – at several stages of the learners’ journey (ILPs and progress reviews)
