  14. 14. DESCRIPTION The project is a transit oriented housing development in SE Portland’s Lents community located on the new MAX Green Line along I-205. The site is one block north of the Lents Town Center stop on the Green Line, the largest between Clackamas and Gateway. The studio consisted of two main tasks: 1. Design a master plan for the site with a range of dwelling types and sizes for a diverse population (including building massing, unit types and arrangement, parking and open space); 2. Develop the design for one of the buildings.   23. 23. DESCRIPTION The project is a public park on South Park Block 5 in the heart of Downtown Portland, a former parking lot gifted to the city by Tom Moyer. The site is situated over underground parking that expands the existing Fox Tower parking. The studio objective was to create public space unlike any other in the Downtown area. The project was to compliment the character of the other open spaces nearby (Pioneer Courthouse Square, and the surrounding building uses. The studio was tied to a separate master plan- ning effort from another class. The PDX Amp Lot plays the roll of one of the ‘Catalyst’ devel- opments in the accompanying urban scheme.   28. 28. DESCRIPTION The project is an investigation of opportunities to improve the current residential wood frame construction practice. Key goals are: to eliminate reduntant framing; reduce waste to a minimum; improve precision and ease of assembly. RULES

  35. 35. URBAN CONCEPT DESCRIPTION The project is a science institute in Portland’s NW District. The studio focused on the Con-Way properties in the Transition Area - approximately 20 acres of under-utilized real estate in the NW District. The first task was to develop a master plan for the area. The second task was to design a building in the master plan area. The site and building type were chosen by the students.
