      • Vasco da Gama movement is the WONCA Europe working group for young and future General Practitioners
      • The movement is the continuation of the work that was started during the first preconference meeting for junior doctors during the WONCA Europe conference in Amsterdam in 2004
      EXPERIENCES IN EUROPE
      • Providing a forum, support and information for trainees and young GPs through access to WONCA Europe regional conferences and pre-conferences
      • Establishing a communication network between European trainees and young GPs and identifying their concerns, doubts and needs and helping to address them
      • Improving the quality of training programmes for general practice.

      • WES dedicates itself to the exchange and integrationof the various areas of General Practice in Europe and also outside of Europe.

      • GP is the pivot of the primary health care
      • A “gate” for the patients to the specialists in the hospital
      • The access to the GP must be “inmediate, free and permanent” whitin 15 minutes
        • FREE: without obstacles
        • PERMANENT: 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
        • Groups: 1 of them on duty outside office hours to provide this service
      • 8 universities
      • 280 GP’s per year
      • Since1994: 3 years
