  3. 3. TECHNOLOGY USE IS… <ul><li>Using the computer, overhead, etc., for presenting information. </li></ul><ul><li>A PowerPoint presentation by a teacher, teachers aide, classmate, etc (yawn). </li></ul><ul><li>The students typing a paper. </li></ul>

WHY ISN’T TECHNOLOGY USE NOT ENOUGH FOR THE STUDENTS? <ul><li>The technology needs to be part of their learning. </li></ul><ul><li>When students develop databases, for instance, they are constructing their own conceptualization of the organization of a content domain. How we construct knowledge depends upon we already know, which depends on the kinds of experiences that we have had, how we have organized those experiences </li></ul><ul><li>into knowledge structures, and what we believe about what we know. </li></ul>

TECHNOLOGY INTERGRATION IS… <ul><li>Technology integration, as defined by the National Forum on Education Statistics (2005), Forum Unified Education Technology Suite , &quot;is the incorporation of technology resources and technology-based practices into the daily routines, work, and management of schools“ (According to Technology Integration Part 1) </li></ul>
  7. 7. TECHNOLOGY INTERGRATION IS… <ul><li>“… when students work with computer technologies, instead of being controlled by them, they enhance the capabilities of the computer, and the computer enhances their thinking and learning.” - Jonassen, Carr, Yueh </li></ul>
  8. 8. Basically any reasonable and proper Technology should and could be integrated into a classroom…
