    • Copying and Dubbing is Different than Burning
In recording, dubbing is the transfer or copying of previously recorded material from one medium to another of the same or a different type. ...
    • What is DVD burning software?
DVD burning software is a program used to transfer a ripped DVD video image from the hard drive to a blank DVD disc. There are many DVD burning programs available, including free DVD burning software.
DVD burning software may also be used to burn ripped video game images, such as PS2, to DVD. However, burning software cannot be used to burn music onto CDs.
It should be noted that not all DVD burning software is capable of burning to dual layer discs. Blank DVD media typically comes in either of two sizes; DVD-5 vs. DVD-9. Most Hollywood DVDs are of the DVD-9 format, also referred to as dual layer, and can store up to 8.5 GB of data. A dual layer DVD can hold twice as much data as the more common DVD-5, single layer blank DVD, which holds only 4.7 GB of data.
    • Types of DVD
DVD+R and DVD+RWDVD+R and DVD+RW formats are supported by Philips, Sony, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Ricoh, Yamaha and others.
DVD+R is a recordable DVD format similar to CD-R. A DVD+R can record data only once and then the data becomes permanent on the disc. The disc can not be recorded onto a second time.
DVD+RW is a re-recordable format similar to CD-RW. The data on a DVD+RW disc can be erased and recorded over numerous times without damaging the medium.
Note: DVDs that have been made using a +R/+RW device can be read by most commercial DVD-ROM players.
    • DVD Types Continue
      DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM
These formats are supported by Panasonic, Toshiba, Apple Computer, Hitachi, NEC, Pioneer, Samsung and Sharp. These formats are also supported by the DVD Forum.
DVD-R is a recordable DVD format similar to CD-R and DVD+R. A DVD-R can record data only once and then the data becomes permanent on the disc. The disc cannot be recorded onto a second time. There also are two additional standards for DVD-R disks: DVD-RG for general use
DVD-RW is a re-recordable format similar to CD-RW or DVD+RW. The data on a DVD-RW disc can be erased and recorded over numerous times without damaging the medium.  DVDs created by a -R/-RW device can be read by most commercial DVD-ROM players.
    • DVD Dual Layer
      DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL
Dual layer technology is supported by a range of manufacturers including Dell, HP, Verbatim, Philips, Sony, Yamaha and others. As the name suggests, dual layer technology provides two individual recordable layers on a single-sided DVD disc. Dual Layer is more commonly called Double Layer in the consumer market, and can be seen written as DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL.
    • Dazle / Pinacle Convert VHS to DVD
Pinnacle Systems, a maker of video editing solutions and consumer-focused digital media adapters, is betting on the fact you want to easily move over your tape-bound videos to the digital era via their Dazzle Video Creator Platinum.
The hardware side of the Dazzle Video Creator Platinum package consists of a USB 2.0 enabled device which you can connect to your desktop PC or laptop.
Also built into the plug-and-play device are analog inputs which you can hook up to a VCR, camcorder or other video gear with analog outputs (composite and S-video).
Video conversion is handled by an on-board hardware encoding chip which offers MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and DivX real-time encoding without causing a slow-down in performance on the connected PC.
