1. 1. Digital Photography Noah’s Ark- Instructor Joe BoisvertClass 2, Jan 2010
Digital Picture Frames
Photo Editing
2. 2. Digital Photo Frames
Wouldn't it be nice to take all of those digital photos sitting on your hard drive or residing in various photo sharing sites and display them in your living room for all to see?
Of course, you could print them out, but there's a faster, more efficient, and environmentally friendly way to show off your shots.
Get yourself a digital photo frame.
3. 3. Things to Consider Before Buying a Digital Picture Frame
There are many things to consider before making your purchase, including screen size, picture quality, ease of use, and media compatibility.
4. 4. Different Photo Frame Features
They offers different features and levels of quality.
Most come with remotes, which is definitely a plus, since the on-frame controls aren't very convenient (plus they force you to get up from your chair).
Some include onboard memory so you can store images right on the frame
others offers multiple ways to transmit your photos:
via memory cards, via USB—even wirelessly.
5. 5. Example of a Cadillac of Digital Picture Frames
Our favorite so far is the Pandigital 8.0" Digital Photo Frame (DPF-80-2)which demonstrated excellent photo quality at a 640 by 480 pixel resolution.
The Pandigital has an 8-inch LCD screen that can display JPEG and motion JPEG AVI, as well as MPEG 1 and MPEG 4 video files.
The frame boasts 64MB of onboard memory
8. 8. Activa 8” More Money More Features
Display photos AND play tunes or movies!
Plays AVI videos and MP3 music too. This classy frame is an all-around media player that everyone can enjoy. It even features 2 built-in stereo speakers!
8" TFT LCD with sharp 800 x 600 resolution. This large screen is a great way to display your memories in crisp, digital clarity.
512MB of internal memory stores up to 3,200 photos. Displays pictures in the JPEG format.
6-in-1 memory-card reader makes it easy to add files. You can use Compact Flash® I/II, Secure Digital™, Memory Stick®, Memory Stick Pro™, MutliMediaCard™, xD Picture Card™, Microdrive™ or a USB drive.
Includes a remote control for convenience. Also includes alarm clock, calendar and programmable on/off timer to conserve energy.
Slideshow mode with transition effects. Just sit back and watch as your pictures smoothly transition from one to another.
Other features include: thumbnail picture view, zoom and picture rotation.
USB cable included. Load your photos via USB from your digital camera or computer.
9. 9. Reviews of Ativa 8” Frame
Will make the best of it...
Pros: nice frame, connection friendly, fairly quick image loading, bright screen
Cons: only jpeg mjpeg and mp3 files accepted, cannot access menu functions with a computer, large vertical images can appear distorted
Rec'd. as a gift. This is my 2nd, Pandigital is the mfg. Pros:
Nice frame and the unit is removable, accepts most types of flash cards and USB / Bluetooth connections.
Cons: Only reads JPEG images, MJPEG video, and MP3 audio, no other formats. Large vertical images must be cropped & rotated for correct appearance before loading to the frame as the images can be distorted or will not appear in their entirety.
Images cannot be modified using the frame's menu. Cannot access menu functions while connected to a PC or Mac,
only through control pads on top of the unit, or by using the remote. The remote is unusable while connected to computer.
All frames cannot be set-up like this one, and a definite try-out of a name-brand frame should occur before a purchase is made.
