  • 6. Advantages of ZINGA
    > Cathodic protection.
    > Expected lifetime at least similar to hot-. dip
    > Unlimited pot and shelf life.
    > Re-coat ability ( -> re-charging principle )
    > Touch dry : 10’ , re-coat able : 1 hour
ZINGA : best of both worlds !

  • 7. Advantages of ZINGA
    No metal product size limitation
Applied in ambient temperature : no shrinking, no stretching, no
    twisting
life expectation ZINGA layer > hot dip
    - hot dip : 0.11 mm / year, ZINGA : 0.035 mm/year (*)
Application cost level : 30 % lower with ZINGA. On the long term
    more than 50% less i n price.
Resist to a pH range from 4 to 11
Can be used on metallised or thermal galvanised parts
    Perfect adhesion when overcoatingtraditionalgalvanisation
Perfect conductivity / cathodic protection : due to high density,
intensity of zinc micro grains and large amount of electrical contacts
( ZINGA 96% Zinc in dry layer )
  • 8. Advantages of ZINGA
    Applicable on de-contaminated rusty surfaces
Applicable in the shop or in the field
repairing, new layer, re-galvanising ZINGA or thermal applied layer or
finishing hi layer ( examples l : silos, first layer in the mill / shop primer )
    No adhesion problem
( even when interrupted application : technically and economically advantage
due to unique re-liquidizing effect) ( no peeling off, no creeping rust )
Active + passive protection = duplex system
    - active : 96 % zinc in dry film- passive : Zinc-oxides layer
Slower corrosion : zinc dust protected by resin, porosity filled with Zinc
    salts
ZINGA : best of both worlds !

  • 9. Advantages of ZINGA
Widly applicable : on all ferrous metals + ZINGA coatings
Easy applicable : by brush, low pressure gun, airless spray, roller
Similar coupling capacity as hot dip galvanisation
No restrictions environmental conditions ( ex. humidity )
Active protection ( <-> paints ), damages remain within limit and do
    not expand
    Welding possibilities on ZINGA
Re-loading & touch-ups on ZINGA ( less preparation cost, no
sandblasting, only rinse Zn- salts with water -> clean environment )
    Safe : no toxic elements
Can be used in contact with drinking water

Trbe motor vessel Copious was grit-blasted, .zinganise-d and topcoated in 2001. The vessel struck a rock in Juty 2002 and came irb to- the harbour with a 3 meter io.n.g scratch on the starboard gunwale. The scratch was bright silver (pure zinc) and the owners were -very happy indeed to see no sign of rust anywhere_

From the desk of Rick Simpson UK, we
received an o rview of several offshore companies in the United Kingdom who have a project running or completed with ZIN.G.A. to their full satisfaction. (05/03/04)
    1) Semi-stibmersible pumps: Shell Oil - 2001 for the INIc:prth Sea. Pumps were z.inganised and
Top-drive unit (turns the drill pipes in the sea-bed): Dolphin Drilling (Mike Clark). This unit came in again after a year to have some new parts welded on, and the original zinganiseci unit was still perfect..
Wind! wall: IBIR oil rig. constructed and zinganiseci in 2002_ This steel structure %ryas built as a wind-break to screen off a part of the platform from the wind_ Built for KCA. !Drilling, -Aberdeen. The entire structure was zinganised.
.Cooper Cameron: They have coated down-hole tools with -After they
are brought back to the surface, the condition is still perfect. The tools which had been painted were chipped and rusted all over the surface. (Abrasion from the Bore of the drill hole)_ Last project on these tools was done September 2003_ They are -very pleased with the results of the welding at Carus Rail and wish to do more work with Z[raga an modified/welded drilling tools.
Recarnmended blast-profile on the tools : 100 microns (using only steel grit for a clean blast. I14:3 risk of a 'boundary layer' of dust in the profile).
Since 2000 zinganised bolts (up to 75mm diameter) have been used on submerged sections of oil drilling rigs and pumping platforms. Customers are BF% Shell, Conoco, Talisman, Philips.
Sparrows Engineering (Aberdeen) is zinganising a flare-boom for a Secico-Farex rig (drilling for RR).

  • 42. Exceptional application
    Harbor Pier, Ireland
The fishing pier is held up by 309 mild-steel hexagonal shaped legs that have been in the sea for 25 years. Due to the salt and the sulphate reducing bacteria (SRB) present in the sea water, they were l osng i up t o 2 mm per year of therithickness. The waters around Killybegs have the highest rate of corrosion in Europe.
The application happened under constant surveillance by SGS Axa-Med, because it was a very difficult and delicate application as they had to take into account the tidal movement of the water and the constant contact with sea water.
The inspection report, issued by SAR Marine & General for the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources, describes the excellent condition of the piles 12 months
    after the application.
