The vessel struck a rock in Juty 2002 and came irb to- the harbour with a 3 meter io.n.g scratch on the starboard gunwale. The entire structure was zinganised. <br />.Cooper Cameron: They have coated down-hole tools with -After they <br />are brought back to the surface, the condition is still perfect. The tools which had been painted were chipped and rusted all over the surface. (Abrasion from the Bore of the drill hole)_ Last project on these tools was done September 2003_ They are -very pleased with the results of the welding at Carus Rail and wish to do more work with Z[raga an modified/welded drilling tools. <br />Recarnmended blast-profile on the tools : 100 microns (using only steel grit for a clean blast. I14:3 risk of a 'boundary layer' of dust in the profile). <br />Since 2000 zinganised bolts (up to 75mm diameter) have been used on submerged sections of oil drilling rigs and pumping platforms. Customers are BF% Shell, Conoco, Talisman, Philips. <br />Sparrows Engineering (Aberdeen) is zinganising a flare-boom for a Secico-Farex rig (drilling for RR). <br />

  42. 42. Exceptional application <br />Harbor Pier, Ireland <br />The fishing pier is held up by 309 mild-steel hexagonal shaped legs that have been in the sea for 25 years. Due to the salt and the sulphate reducing bacteria (SRB) present in the sea water, they were l osng i up t o 2 mm per year of therithickness. The waters around Killybegs have the highest rate of corrosion in Europe. <br />The application happened under constant surveillance by SGS Axa-Med, because it was a very difficult and delicate application as they had to take into account the tidal movement of the water and the constant contact with sea water. <br />The inspection report, issued by SAR Marine & General for the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources, describes the excellent condition of the piles 12 months <br />after the application. <br />ZINGA : best of both worlds ! <br />www.optec.com.au<br />
