Unit 73: Sound For Computer Games
Game Title South Park the Stick Of Truth
Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting In a fantasy cartoon, animated land, with battles that aren’t existing, but are
brought up in the mind of a protagonist to the story (Eric Cartman)
We can hear sounds of battles and metal clanging together
The sounds of metal can easily be reproduced
with prop swords or even metallic rulers clanging
together within an open space to reduce risk of
Mood With the red demonic tint within the battle scene it shows the rage of war and the
efforts each side is pushing to have them succeeded.
With the tale being told about the past, what is to come and why the character you
play is so useful is all upon a build up for playing the game.
Using the sounds of the swords bashing, the
rioting of the men (possibly made by multiple
people yelling into a microphone individually) and
death being brought upon both sides with stab
sounds which are re-creatable In a sound studio
Game genre The genre of a game is a fantasy turn-based rpg which is shown by the clothing of
the characters, with capes, helmets and large weapons.
We can see the game is a ‘joking’ kind of game with the characters outfits being
homemade and they’re just LARPing without much knowledge about it.
The backing tune throughout the game is constant
chants created by the voice actor of ‘Cartman’ to
imitate that of a real fantasy rpg such as The Elder
Narrative Throughout the cutscene we hear Eric Cartman, a protagonist in the game, talking
over the sounds of war, of the plan he has and why this war is going on, he also
explains what the users character is needed for and how they come into play within
the game all together.
Simply by recording in a sound studio and
levelling over the sounds of the rioting it was
rather simple to play this over everything.
