- The Sensex dropped 0.11% and the Nifty dropped 0.15% while overseas markets in the US, France, Germany and Britain saw mixed performance.
- In Indian markets, HDFC Bank and Hero MotoCorp were among the top gainers while Jindal Steel & Power and Tata Power saw the biggest losses.
- Most sectoral indices closed lower with banking, IT and midcap indices down around 0.2-0.4% while the defense index rose 0.62%.
2. MARKET WRAP
Sensex dropped 0.11% @17213.70 pts; Nifty dropped 0.15% @5227.25 pts.
Nasdaq closed down by 0.75%, Dow Jhones Ind. Avg. closed down by 0.25%.
France's CAC, Germany's DAX and Britain's FTSE went up 0.38 - 0.83%
Sensex gained 110 points in morning trade, but in second half of trade it dropped 18.85
pts closed at 17,213.7 and Nifty slipped 8 pts to 5,227.25 as traders opted to book profits
ahead of weekend and inflation data. Asian shares and the Australian dollar jumped on
Friday after China's second-quarter GDP data landed in line with forecasts.
