  4. 5. Hero’s Quest <ul><li>Frodo’s quest was to carry the ring away from the Shire. Also to destroy it and make sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. </li></ul><ul><li>King Leonidas quest was to keep Sparta free. The Persians “god”, Xerxes, wanted to make Sparta women into slaves. </li></ul>

  6. 7. Courage/Valor <ul><li>Frodo shows courage by over coming the power of the ring. Also not letting anything stop him from destroying the ring. </li></ul><ul><li>King Leonidas shows valor by showing courage on taking over 120,000 Persians with just 300 Spartans. Another way he shows valor is by dying in order to try and save Sparta. </li></ul>
  7. 8. Guides <ul><li>Sam: Frodo’s best friend. He is always loyal to Frodo and he would follow him all the way till death. </li></ul><ul><li>Gandolf: tells Frodo were to take the ring and destroy it. </li></ul><ul><li>Aragorn: he will do anything to help Frodo destroy the ring. </li></ul><ul><li>Leonidas’s father: Role model and teacher. He taught Leonidas how to be strong and independent. </li></ul><ul><li>Queen Gorgo: wife and mother of Leonidas’s child. She helps Leonidas decide if he should go into war with the Persians. </li></ul>
  8. 9. Supernatural Forces <ul><li>One supernatural forces in Lord of the Rings was the ring. It had the power to corrupt someone and make them use the ring for evil. </li></ul><ul><li>Another thing would be the Elves. They had the power to not grow old unless they were all together. </li></ul><ul><li>Also the Elvin bread was said to keep a full grown man full with just one bit of the bread. </li></ul><ul><li>In 300 , the oracle, Pythia, has the power of premonition. Which means she has the power to see into the future. </li></ul>
  9. 10. Scene Parallels <ul><li>In Lord of the Rings: Trilogy , from the very beginning they had few army people. They were out numbered by Moria Orcs, elephants, and wolf things. </li></ul><ul><li>In 300 , throughout the battles they fought they were always out numbered by thousands of Persian army. </li></ul>
  10. 11. Scene Parallels <ul><li>In the beginning of Lord of the Rings, Gandalf the Grey told Frodo that he needs to leave the Shire in order to keep it safe. The picture shows Sam and Frodo leaving the Shire with the ring. </li></ul><ul><li>King Leonidas left Sparta to keep it free and not let the Persians take over. They picture above shows Leonidas saying goodbye to his Queen. </li></ul>
  11. 12. Scene Parallels <ul><li>Sauron started creating Orcs in order to try and destroy The Fellowship of the Ring. </li></ul><ul><li>Orcs attacked the forces of good. </li></ul><ul><li>Xerxes, Persians king, sends the Immortals to kill all 300 men from Sparta. </li></ul>

Theme/Message <ul><li>Both of the movies show that you should fight for what you believe in. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>King Leonidas fights for Sparta. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Frodo fights to keep the Shire safe. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>King Leonidas and Frodo, both earn respect from their peers. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>King Leonidas earn more respect than what he already has because he died trying to save Sparta from the Persians. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Frodo earns respect because over his quest he grew up and takes responsibility in destroying the ring. </li></ul></ul>
  13. 14. Conflicts <ul><li>There were many conflicts that Frodo had to face. One of them was making sure he doesn’t get killed. </li></ul><ul><li>Sparta also faced conflict. King Leonidas sent 300 of his best men to go into war. The conflict was he needed more soldiers but the council didn’t want to send him anymore. They were angry at Leonidas for disobeying them on not to go. </li></ul>
  14. 15. Symbolism <ul><li>The Ring: knowing that Frodo has to destroy it. </li></ul><ul><li>King Leonidas bravery: it symbolized how much he loves Sparta. Also by him dying it showed he had courage. </li></ul>
