  2. 2. He completed his Initial education at St. Mary's School, Mumbai and later on went to study Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, USA
  3. 3. He left his engineering studies and took over the leadership at the age of 21 due to sudden demise of his father

  8. 8. In 1980, the name was changed from Wipro Products Limited to Wipro Limited
  9. 9. He diversified the company to bakery fats, toiletries, soaps, baby toiletries, lighting products and hydraulic cylinders In 1988
  10. 10. In the 1990 , he recognizing the importance of the emerging IT field and started manufacturing minicomputers , hardware, Software development Azim Premji made a focused shift from Soaps to Software
  11. 11. His fantastic move resulted a 1.5 million company in hydrogenated cooking fats grew to an over $6 billion company within a few decades.
  12. 12. Wipro became the world first company to assesed SEI-CMM Level 5 IN 1998
  13. 13. Wipro got listed on New York Stock Exchange In 2000
  14. 14. Wipro became the first software technology and services company in India to be certified for ISO 14001 certification IN 2002
  15. 15. Wipro also became the world’s first company to win PCMM Level 5certification. IN 2002
  16. 16. In 2002 Wipro Entered the BPO business. In 2008 Wipro Entered the Eco-energy business.

  18. 18. He drives a Toyota Corolla and flies in economy class, prefers to stay in company guest houses and even served food on paper plates at a lunch honoring his son's wedding. SIMPLE LIVING HIGH THINKING
  19. 19. In 2001, he founded Azim Premji Foundation, a non-profit organization, with a vision to contribute to achieving quality education that facilitates a equitable, humane and sustainable society.

  21. 21. FOUNDATION FUNCTIONS ACROSS KARNATAKA, UTTARAKHAND, RAJASTHAN, CHHATTISGARH, PONDICHERRY, ANDHRA PRADESH, BIHAR AND MADHYA PRADESH, IN CLOSE PARTNERSHIP WITH VARIOUS STATE GOVERNMENTS
  22. 22. In 2000, he was conferred an honorary doctorate by Manipal Academy of Higher Education AWARDS AND ACCOLADES
  23. 23. In 2005, the Government of India honored him with the title of Padma Bhushan
  24. 24. In 2006 He was awarded Lakshya Business Visionary by National Institute of Industrial Engineering
  25. 25. In 2009, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Wesleyan University for his outstanding philanthropic work.
  26. 26. In 2011, he has been awarded Padma Vibhushan the second highest civilian award by the Government of India
  27. 27. In 2013, he was awarded the Asian Business Leaders Award for his impulsive Business credentials and service to society.
