  • 1. ==== ====how to toilet train a puppywww.toilettrainapuppy.org==== ====If you train your new puppy correctly and consistently, potty or toilet training can be a relativelypain-free process for both parties. Whichever method you use, and Ill list the main effective onesbelow, the main thing of importance is being consistent in the commands and directions you giveto your puppy when training. After all, training is centrally about effective communication, i.e.making your dog aware of what you want them to do.So, here are the main ways of toilet training a puppy:Getting a CrateOne of the ways that I helped the process of toilet training my Westie was by getting him a crate. This might only be applicable to smaller breeds of dogs like Terriers, but can actually be veryeffective. Dogs do not want to go to the bathroom in the place they sleep, and will only do so ifthey have an accident (which is common with puppies as they do have weaker bladders).Paper trainingThis essentially involves laying out paper across the room, then steadily removing it once yourpuppy has found their usual spot. Once this happens, you can steadily move the paper closer andcloser to the door, eventually moving it outside. Always reward your dog to ensure expedience inlearning, and never scold or punish them if they have a mistake - this will inevitably have thecounterproductive effect of making them not want to urinate in front of you.Take them out to the gardenIt takes a little bit of patience initially, but again youll be surprised at how quickly your puppyrealises that they need to go to the toilet outside when you do this. Since dogs usually need to goto the bathroom within half an hour to forty minutes of every meal, this is the prime time toaccompany them when they go outside. Once theyve done their business, confirm that this was agood place to pee by giving them a physical or verbal reward.Jonathan Belcher has been an Angler for 10 years now, and runs a review site at FoldingCamping Chair [http://www.foldingcampingchair.net/], which also focuses on reviewing a FoldingCamp Chair [http://www.foldingcampingchair.net/2010/01/20/folding-camp-chair-reviews/].
