Some situations require specific preparation.

Which are the communicative necessities of the immigrant people?
The communicative necessities affect all aspects of life.
The main field is employment.
Administration is another important place where immigrants need communication.

Is there any protocol to achieve a good communication?
The protocol depends on two factors:
- The professionalism of the interpreter or the mediator.
- The education and culture of the client.
The communicative barrier marks the limits between the professional and the client.
The intercultural mediator has more resources to establish the communication.

Which are the obstacles that professionals face during the communication process?
Aspects related to language and culture.
Neutrality.
Involvement.

Which are the most common linguistic problems?
Depend on the sector in which the professional is working.
If the immigrant do not know the field the linguistic exchange will be more laborious.
Some concepts or realities of the host country can be unknown for the immigrant and have to be explained by the professional.

Which are the most common cultural problems?
The location in which the immigrant lives in the host country.
The social and cultural background of the immigrant.
The type of environment in which the immigrant lived in his or her country and the type of environment where he or she lives in the host country.

Is there any stereotype in the communicative relations?
Yes.
The majority of them are related to culture.
There are also a lot of stereotypes related to religion.

Which skills do interpreters and intercultural mediators need to do a good job?
Control of specific vocabulary and terminology of each field.
Ability to solve linguistic problems.
Sometimes the organization or administration provides the professional with help and information.

Social worker
Takes care of the wellbeing of people that have difficulties and deficiencies in their daily lives.
Provides them with information and help.
Assists people in situation of crisis, violence or losses.

Social educator
Provides people with access to culture, wellbeing and participation in social life.
Work with people in very different environment that have social or adaptation problems and that are alienated.

Nowadays there are resources but they could be more and better.
Professionals need access to many tools as possible that can help them to do their job.
