This document summarizes a presentation given by Ian Crowlesmith on April 23, 2014 about the content and coverage of Embase. The presentation covered several key areas: 1) the scope and journal coverage of Embase, including the number of journals indexed and differences from MEDLINE; 2) country and language coverage differences from MEDLINE; 3) conference coverage including over 300,000 conference abstracts indexed annually; 4) coverage of articles in press and in process records with automatic indexing; 5) overlap between Embase and MEDLINE records after deduplication; and 6) the currency of Embase records which are typically loaded within 2 weeks and ahead of equivalent MEDLINE records. Questions from attendees were invited at the end.
