Why should I learn about pets?
There are approximately 74.8 million owned dogs and 88.3 million owned cats in the US.
Petting a dog will lower your heart rate and blood pressure.
Children practice reading to therapy dogs.
Therapy animals visit nursing homes and hospitals.
Pets require proper care and socialization.
Looking for Information about Pets on the Internet
Go to Google.com, Bing.com, Yahoo.com, or other Internet search engine.
Search for information by putting in keywords such as “cat care” or “therapy dogs”.
How do I Know the Web Sites are good ones?

The Library subscribes to more than 500 magazines, journals, and newspapers.
You can access most of these subscription databases at home.
See the Library’s 24/7 page for help in finding articles.
How do I search for articles?
Select a database like Academic Search Complete.
Enter dog ownership as your search term.
Limit your search to full-text and periodicals.
Wow! What a great list
A list of records will be displayed.
The list shows part of the abstract, the author, the publication, the date, and if the full text is available as HTML or a PDF.
How can I find more about one of the articles?
Click on the title of the article.
Read the full text.
Save the article or email it, along with the proper citation, to yourself.
Now what?
