How to prevent and cure acne

Published on

Well, you’re a young teenager making his way into the real world. You’re starting to see things in a different perspective, and you’ve found out about certain matters which you were deprived of as a child, for good reason of course. Along with the maturity level just moving up the progress bar, you’re also experiencing a few physical changes. Hair starts growing in places, your physique is starting to develop more, and your facial appearance is starting to chisel out just a tad. Along with that, comes the dread of every young person growing into adolescence, acne. It’s not just something that budding young people experience though – even grown ups still struggle with this, often resorting to popping them on the fly or resorting to wearing loads of makeup to cover up those unsightly bumps on the face.

 4. 4. What Causes Acne?

First of all, acne is a disorder that occurs in the pilosebaceous unit, comprising of the sebaceous gland, hair follicle and a hair. The most number of units can be found on the human face, producing a gland called sebum which is responsible for keeping your skin and hair properly moisturized. However, a bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes, found residing under your skin uses sebum as nutrient. Those who have an abundance of these bacteria are people who suffer from this skin disorder the most, with the white blood cells producing an enzyme which breaks down the wall of the hair follicle, allowing its contents to enter the outer layer of your skin, called the dermis. This causes an inflammatory reaction in the form of red pus-filled bumps and nodules, as well as the formation of free fatty acids which act as irritants. It usually causes problems when a lot of sebum is trapped within the hair follicle itself, due to some reasons yet unknown that cannot explain why some hair follicles get obstructed. Sebum produces but remains trapped on the way out, plugging up the follicle and producing cells that become sticky.
