INTRODUCTION My name is Rob and I am part of the EEV community. I am a math teacher at a high school on the northern part of Long Island.
What Do You Know About Math?

Below is a link to a funny video that a few teachers put together about math. It is a “rap” using all math terminology…ENJOY!

(click the picture below)

Life Before TEAM

Prior to TEAM I was working toward a graduate degree in Mathematics at Queens College. However, I failed to see the usefulness of the acquired knowledge in the classroom. I could not see a need for the information in the immediate future. This is what started me on the search for another more practical program.

Life During TEAM

A colleague mentioned the TEAM program and I attended an orientation last fall. The program seemed to posses some great qualities. All the material could be easily applied to my current lessons. The impact of the program on my teaching was immediate. All the knowledge was practical for my new career.

Our Collaboration "Committed to Character"

Together we developed a character education program that would make students more accountable for their learning/actions. We came up with a series of materials and lessons for teachers to use in their classrooms to teach different elements of good character (such as Responsibility, Teamwork, Caring, etc.). After the students completed the program successfully they were given the opportunity to design a square for our "Virtual Quilt" which was posted to the web.

TEAM & Me

So far there have been a few achievements in TEAM that I am proud of.

The “WebQuest” was a great success because it was the first functioning and practical website I have ever created.

TEAM & Me

The video collaboration is another great achievement. We really worked hard on that project and the end result was impressive.

Expectations

This program is a great way to keep up with the current technology. It is not my common practice to do that on my own. I hope to be led into the right directions in terms of technology and education…Whatever direction that may be…

What I Hope To Learn

Since my district has recently purchased and permanently mounted a number of Smart Boards in many of the rooms, I hope to utilize them in many ways.

This technology allows me to use a computer with the entire class and I hope to broaden that ability.
