    • A2 Portfolio The Pitch
    • Research and Planning • The research and planning stage of your portfolio is critical is one of the most important in your project. • If you research in detail and into relevant material you will be able to achieve a level 4 with ease. • Your planning must be detailed and comprehensive. • In order to achieve 20 out of 20 both must be explicitly linked.
    • The Pitch • One element of your research and planning takes the form of a “Music Promo Pitch”. • You may complete this task in either Powerpoint or Prezi and it must be embedded in your blog.
    • To Start... • You must begin by presenting your chosen track and artist. • You must include: • Either a clip of the song, the video or both • Images of the band if they exist • Information about the band, age, gender, location, group or solo artist? etc
    • For Example: My Chosen Artist The Saturdays • Five piece girl group • 18-25 • No instruments www.unsigned.com/thesaturdays • Pop • Key Target Audience: Girls aged 8 -20
    • Compare to a similar sounding artist... • Find an artist/group that has a similar sound to your song • Include images and at least one video • Deconstruct at least one video in detail. Explain how/why they have a similar sound, whether style of the video would be suited to your song? Why? Why not? • Inspiration for your video (bits you could steal)
    • For Example: Similar Artists • Girls Aloud & The Spice Girls • Five piece girl group • 18-25 • No instruments • Pop • Key Target Audience: Girls aged 8 -20
    • For Example: Girls Aloud – Love Machine – The Video www.youtube.com/girlsaloudlovemachine Rule of thirds used effectively. Mid-shot draws the viewers eye to her cleavage to enhance sex appeal. Lots of close-ups used to highlight each individual member of the group. Top lighting used to soften their features. Attractive male cast members appeal to the female target audience
    • For Example: Girls Aloud – Love Machine – The Video Lots of close-ups used to highlight each individual member of the group Dance routine is typical of the group and features in all their videos Co-ordinated costumes, each in a different pastel colour but a similar material and length. Designed to compliment each girl. Humorous plot, set in a bar to appeal to target audience– a sexy barman is chased by a group of girls.
    • Compare to a similarly styled artist... • Deconstruction of the image boy band/rock band etc. • Find images of magazine adverts and album covers
    • For Example: Girls Aloud – Image • Matching costumes • Glamorous and sexy • Started with “Girl next door” • Similarly posed photographs • Each girl plays a different role • Colourful and vibrant or dark and seductive
    • For Example: Girls Aloud – Digipak/Magazine Adverts Short, sexy costumes All five girls on the cover
    • My Image • A slide about the potential "image" they need to create for their video including costumes, style, props etc
    • For Example: The Saturdays – Image Ideas • Matching costumes • Glamorous and sexy • Similarly posed photographs • Each girl plays a different role • Colourful and vibrant
    • Overview of the song, • Genre • The idea behind it • Tempo • Key Lyrics
    • Overview of the idea for the video - • Give an overview of the key idea/ideas for your video – making sure you are making clear links to the song. • Take a few key lines - a few key images from the video - locations, photos, sketches, etc - linked to -
