  1. 1. Copying with WinSCP<br />Introduction<br />WinSCP is the FTP (file transfer protocol) application that we use to copy files from our computers to the web. WinSCP is an open source application that can be downloaded from Mott’s site for free. This application is already installed on all academic computing labs on Mott’s campus.<br />Installing WinSCP<br />The following directions will assist you with downloading and installing WinSCP on your computer:<br /><ul><li>Click here to download WinSCP
  2. 2. Click “Run”
  3. 3. If your computer gives you a security warning, allow WinSCP to install/run
  4. 4. Follow all default settings to install the application on your computer.</li></ul>Logging in to WinSCP<br />The following directions will assist you with logging in to your web space with WinSCP :<br /><ul><li>Open WinSCP on your computer
  5. 5. Enter the following information
  6. 6. Host name: eshudson.mcc.edu
  7. 7. Username: your Blackboard username
  8. 8. Password: your Blackboard password
  9. 9. Click Login</li></ul>Copying Files with WinSCP<br />Once logged in to your web space, copying files to your web space is like copying files on your computer. <br /><ul><li>Locate the public_html folder in your web space through WinSCP
  10. 10. Locate the public_html folder on your computer
  11. 11. Everything in your web space should match what is on your computer
  12. 12. To copy files drag the file you wish to copy from your computer’s public_html folder to your web space. You may also do this with entire folders once we get further in the course.
