  2. 2. MEGALODON <ul><li>Megalodons are said to have existed over 20 through 2 millions years ago. </li></ul><ul><li>They were extremely huge about 52.1 feet long. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Dodo birds <ul><li>Dodo birds were often hunted because they were a nice source of food for humans. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Archaeopteryx <ul><li>The Archaeopteryx was said to be about 1.6 feet tall. </li></ul><ul><li>It lived around 150–155 million years ago. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Japanese sea lion <ul><li>The Japanese sea lion went extinct around the 1950’s which was not too long ago. </li></ul><ul><li>This was a terrible loss and we will miss our lovely friend the Japanese sea lion always. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Great Auk <ul><li>This majestic bird has been extinct since the 19 th century. </li></ul><ul><li>They where about 30 inches tall and weighed maybe 11 pounds. Eventually they were hunted to extinction. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Great Bustard <ul><li>The great bustard went extinct in 1967.  </li></ul><ul><li>It used to roam the lands of Europe and Asia. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Guam flying fox <ul><li>The Guam flying fox fell to earth’s cruel will, due to hunting and habitat change. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Quagga <ul><li>The Quagga was a subspecies of zebra which died out in the late 1800’s. </li></ul>

  11. 11. American Burying Beetle <ul><li>The American burying beetle likes to live in lands of which are undisturbed by humans. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Piping plover <ul><li>Piping plovers mainly live on beaches and feed off worms, insects, and crustaceans. </li></ul>
  13. 13. Leatherback sea turtle <ul><li>They can grow to be 6 and a half feet and weigh up to 2000 pounds. </li></ul>
  14. 14. Shortnose Sturgeon <ul><li>They are found in fast-moving freshwater environments. </li></ul><ul><li>This species can live from 30-67 years of age. </li></ul>
  15. 15. Sei Whale <ul><li>There are around only 54,000 Sei whales left in the world today because of whaling.  </li></ul>
  16. 16. Fender's Blue Butterfly <ul><li>The Fender's Blue Butterfly’s habitat has been developed for farmland so it has no where to live now.  </li></ul>
  17. 17. Marquesan Kingfisher <ul><li>This lovely kingfisher is threatened by the habitat loss of French Polynesia . </li></ul>
  18. 18. California Condor <ul><li>The California condor is endangered because of poaching, lead poisoning, and habitat destruction. </li></ul>
