  • 2. Why Social Media SEO?    
    • SEO is all about sending people to your information/brand. Makes sense that social media does that easily.
    •  
    • Unlike a lot of SEO, social SEO can be hyper relevant. But you have to think ahead.
    •  
    • It's easy -- unlike all the SEO experts, you can do this yourself.
    •  
    • #1 reason? Green brands need more information/education. Social media can drive consumers to that information.
  • 3. Top Three Things to Remember    
    •   #1: It can't work if you don't do it.
    •  
    • #2: Learn what works -- be willing to experiment with frequency, time posted, where posted, format (text or video or podcast, etc.).
    •  
    • #3: Get to know your audience. Good places to start learning about metrics:
        • Facebook Insights
        • Klout
        • Google Analytics
  • 4. Where to Start    
    • ALWAYS name photos and videos. No generic titles. And this means all photos, including profile pictures.
    •  
    • Quality content is always king. It's better to do one really well done article than 10 junk ones.
    •  
    • WordPress. Say it with me. (XML)
  • 5. Facebook SEO  (Photos)

      • Don't forget to tag
      • Remember, brands can be tagged now, too
      • Admin your photos well
  • 6. Facebook SEO (Page Updates)    
    • Page Updates:

      • Use keywords every time you update
      • Keep mission statement up to date and handy
      • Keep list of keywords up to date and taped to monitor
      • Hyper Alerts

  • 7. Facebook SEO (General)    
    • Use hyperlinks when appropriate. Add them as Facebook changes page functions.

    • Keep editing the Info tab -- don't let it go stale
    •  
    • Consider adding custom tabs
    •  
    • Use landing pages and standard links (non-hyperlinked) when Facebook won't allow hyperlinks.
  • 8. Twitter SEO
      • Your bio is very important. Write it carefully.
      • Don't bury keywords -- first 27-40 characters
      • Don't forget hashtags -- be reasonable
      • Always shorten your links (permanent directs)
      • Get your bit.ly (or similar) account
      • Do Twitter parties and chats
      • Get listed and list others (directories and lists)
      • Google is like Santa -- it knows your followers
      • Tweeters see your ratio -- don't follow everyone
      • If you aren't adding followers, ask why
  • 9. YouTube SEO    
      • Keywords are even more important
      • Include full script in description if appropriate
      • Know your enemy and cool kids

      • Can you leave a video reply?
      • Quora -- Get on early
