  6. 6. Visit to local shrine on New Year’s Day. <br />Traditional New Year’s day activity for Japanese people.<br />
  7. 7. Plastic restaurant food displayed for view before making selection.<br />
  8. 8. Hiroshima<br />Only remaining structure left as a monument to encourage world future peace.<br />Atomic bomb (A-bomb) dropped on Hiroshima (and Nagasaki) – <br />August 6, 1945. <br />70,000 died immediately; 70,000 or more died from effects within 5 years. Ended WWII.<br />
