Like the SunIt glimmers likeFire in a sky blue poolOr a catIn the center of a rugMaybe a bright shirtIn your dark closet Ennor: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21222992@N00/162976428/Perhaps its just a ballIn the sky
ReflectionFor this poem, I used similes to compare thesun to other things. I like using similesbecause I like thinking about somethingsimple that can be something totallydifferent.
Secret SunThe sun glittersThe sun glowsIt has a faceIt never showsWhen the sunStarts to set Vijay Bandari: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92437916@N00/3112984220/The moon knowsNight is all he gets
ReflectionFor the “Secret Sun”, I made it rhymebecause sometimes rhymes just pop up in myhead and I have to hurry and write themdown. This poem came from one of theserhymes, but I only had to change a fewrhymes to come up with the final thing.
Prowling LightThe sun is Rubbing legsCreeping along Heating lapsThe backyard fence It crunches its foodIt leaps into the trees The sun isA scorching paw A bright, flaming catSnags a runaway mouseThe mouse dissolves in flamesThe sun isBounding through streetsCrawling through alleysSlinking around trash cansIt battles enemiesBurning themThe sun is Jermz Photography: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22000497@N02/4320009569/Purring to be let in
ReflectionI made this poem because I like to pet a catafter it has been in the sun for a while. Iwondered what it would be like if a cat wasthe sun. It was quite easy to do this“catification”, because I know what simplethings cats do, but I made it seem like the catwas the sun instead.
What Does the Sun Taste Like?I wonder,What does the sunTaste like?Is it hot? Is it spicy?Or is it sweet like candy...I wonder,If it is refreshingLike an orangeOr bitter like squash? Is it cold? Maybe...The sun tastes like Khalid AlHaqqan: http://www.flickr.com/photos/37103425@N00/371515143/Flaming chili peppers
ReflectionI thought it would be funny if you could eateverything, so I made an “I wonder” poemabout what the sun tastes like. It was prettyeasy because the sun would obviously tastejust like flaming chili peppers.
The Sun’s HobbyWhat does the sun do?I wonder, whileIt sits in the skyDoes it read comic booksOr chew bubble gumWhile it shines in the skyThe sun must have a hobbyBut what does it do?Does it play checkers Herr Saush: http://www.flickr.com/photos/85388692@N00/196548033/Or doodle on paperMaybe it wants to justSit in the skyWhat does the moon do?
Reflection“The Sun’s Hobby” is another “I wonder”poem. These poems seem to be easiest forme because I like to wonder about things alot, so I have a lot of thoughts to choosefrom.
Sun SnakeSunlight creeps around the woods It rests on a bear’s backIt slinks through branches It shakes a raccoon’s tailIt curls around leaves Sun rests on a hill, waitingIt taps gently on flowers For everyone to wake upSunlight burrows in the groundIt swirls around bugsIt weaves through rootsIt swings through stonesSunlight reaches the creaturesIt strokes deer on the eyelids jurvetson: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44124348109@N01/825514494/
ReflectionThis poem is about observations. I like tolook at how the sun shoots through theleaves and I was thinking that the sun waslike a snake in the morning, wakingeverything up by touching it with sunlight.
Ending ReflectionI chose the sun because I figured that there wouldbe a lot of choices to write about it because thereare a lot of things to say about the sun. I think thatmy favorite poem would be “What Does the SunTaste Like?”. I learned that my favorite type ofpoetry is writing “I wonder” poems. Repetitiondoesn’t come as easily to me as other poemsbecause I sometimes have trouble finding words torepeat.
