Leading Small Groups - Presentation Transcript

    1. Leading Small Groups in RLCC The challenge of making it work
    2. Why small groups?  The mission of RLCC is to reconcile the world with God and with each other by building communities of faith for every people group, in every strategic area, by the power of the Holy Spirit, for the glory of God.
    3. Why small groups?  The mission of RLCC is to reconcile the world with God and with each other by building communities of faith for every people group, in every strategic area, by the power of the Holy Spirit, for the glory of God.
    4. Reconciliation involves… a TWO-STEP PROCESS! PROCESS  Step One: Salvation (reconciliation with God)  Step Two: Assimilation (reconciliation with people)
    5. Step One: Salvation  How are people saved?  Read Romans 10:14-15  Someone goes out (v.15)  Identifies a people group (v.14)  Earns the right to be heard (v.14)  Proclaims the word of God (v.14)  People believe (v.14)  They call upon the name of the Lord and are saved (v.14)
    6. Step One: Salvation  How are people saved?  Read Acts 11:19-21  Someone goes out (v.19)  Identifies a people group (v.19)  Earns the right to be heard (v.20)  Proclaims the word of God (v.20)  People believe (v.21)  They call upon the name of the Lord and are saved (v.21)
    7. Step One: Salvation  What should we do?  Some of us must go out  We must identify people groups  We must earn the right to be heard  We must proclaim the word of God  We must pray for people to believe  We must guide people toward genuine conversion
    8. Step One: Salvation  REACH Ministries:  Mobilize everyone to start PEER Networks (i.e. minister to people through prayer to earn the right to be heard).  Start PWR Cells for those who are open and willing to come together as a small group.  Create a Contact Point Event if the group becomes too big or else multiply the PWR Cell if the place is already too small.  Invite seekers to the RLBS until they are saved.
    9. Conducting a PWR Cell  Welcome everyone, especially newcomers  Open in prayer  Read a short passage of Scripture  Ask each one to share their insight  Transition to “Testimony Time”  Ask for prayer needs and pray for them  Make announcements and close in prayer
    10. Step Two: Assimilation  Why assimilation? 1 Corinthians 12:12-13  Romans 16:1-5, 17-19  Assimilation is also a PROCESS! PROCESS  Public level – Identifying with a large group but not knowing people by name  Social level – Knowing the names of people and some general information about them  Personal level – Knowing personal facts about each other because of ample time spent together  Intimate level – Being transparent (sharing deep feelings) with each other
    11. Step Two: Assimilation  Public level – Worship Celebrations (SWC, FNH) & Congregational Events  Social level – Growth or TASK Group  Personal level – LIFE Group or Ministry Team  Intimate level – Leadership Teams (like the Twelve, John 15:12-15)

    28. Whatever group you lead…  You need to pay attention to…  Discipleship (one-on-one mentoring)  Communityship (regular meetings, doing “one- another” ministry, eating together, & webbing out)  Ministry (serving the Lord together)  You also need to…  Lead with a purpose (why?)  Encourage participation (who?)  Aim for consensus (how, where, when?)  Direct the process (what?)
    29. We can make it work if we trust in the Lord. Let’s do it, RLCC!
