Sponsor retention strategies for tough times: Engagement and evaluation strategies for rights holders to maximise the “touch, tangibility and stickiness” of their sponsorship. In particular, focus on key decision makers and influencers in the “C” suite, marketing and sponsorship teams and in the sales, business development and customer-facing areas of their organisation, where it will have most impact and influence the continuity of the sponsorship. As part of this engagement and relationship building, ensure that all points of contact are “on-side” with the sponsorship and can appreciate the benefits and return to their organisation. Ensure they can “touch” the sponsorship and have involvement in some way, either at the venue or other promotional and support activities.
