  9. 10. By the Numbers <ul><li>Only 15% of Advanced Placement computer science exam-takers in 2006 were female. </li></ul><ul><li>Only 19% of all CS degrees went to females. (compared to 37% in 1984). </li></ul><ul><li>In the US, women hold only 26% of all computing-related occupations. </li></ul><ul><li>Only 13% of Fortune 500 technology companies have women corporate officers. </li></ul><ul><li>Source: National Center for Women & Information Technology </li></ul>

Overview of DigiGirlz Day <ul><li>One-day event designed to provide high school girls with a better understanding of what a career in technology is all about. </li></ul><ul><li>Students interact with Microsoft employees and managers as well as local women in business and government to gain exposure to careers in business and technology </li></ul><ul><li>Provides girls with career planning assistance, information about technology and business roles, thought-provoking exercises, and hands-on demonstrations. </li></ul><ul><li>Young women can find out about the variety of opportunities available in the high-tech industry and can explore future career paths. </li></ul>

Overview of DigiGirlz Day <ul><li>Girls grades 10-12 that are registered in a Delaware high school are eligible (Minimum-20; Maximum-150) </li></ul><ul><li>No minimum GPA requirement </li></ul><ul><li>Gift bag for each Participant </li></ul><ul><li>Breakfast and Lunch Provided </li></ul><ul><li>Microsoft Bus will be in attendance; girls in groups of 10 will be given a hands-on walk through of demonstrations on the bus. </li></ul><ul><li>$0 cost for students </li></ul><ul><li>Considering scheduling in February/March 2009 </li></ul><ul><li>To Be Determined: Location and Transportation Logistics </li></ul>
