What kinds of birds are found in our reserve? Oliver, Kua, Cory, Dominic What kinds of birds are found in our reserve? Oliver, Kua, Cory, Dominic Presentation Transcript

    • New Zealand native birds Oliver, Dom, Cory, Kua.
    • What Questions we were wondering What birds are they? Why branches a falling down? Why does the caterpillar eat leaves? Why are there holes in the leaves? Why does the river not go up?
    • Birds.
      • We are trying to find more information about them like what do they eat and when do they mate?
    • Our Results
      • We went down to the river and collected some data of 4 birds.
      • We found out that the Pukeko had the most data by 8 of them.
      • We found out that there were no Kereru data.
    • Our Conclusion
      • Our hypothesis was that kereru lives somewhere in the north island, It was wrong because the pukeko was the most by 8 of them.
    • Other Research 2. The fantails predators are the ship rats because they eat the fantails chicks. What are the fantails predators? 1. What do fantails eat? Fantails eat insects, spiders and moths.
    • Fantails eat insects, spiders and moths. 3. What do fantails eat? 4. Where do fantails live? The fantails live in a nest in a forest, scrub and cities. What do fantails eat? Yum!!!
    • Social Action
      • What
      • We want to make a school mascot – Pukeko?
    • Why
      • Because we found 8 Pukeko at the river and we have a New Zealand native kiwi bird, so we want to have a school mascot as a Pukeko?
      • We are also showing a graph.
      • We could also have the mascot for sports games?
    • How
      • We could have some posters put up?
      • We could put a notice or a image on the school website? (Mr Herring’s wife could design a picture)
      • We could make some signs for classrooms?
Do you have any questions? What do you think?
