    • STRUCTUREThe author structured the book into- 6 chapters 64 pages Average size of the paragraphs-8 lines. The book contains a few dialogues in the 6th chapter which were made by the main character-Levi Strauss ◦ Those were used to highlight Levi‟s nature
    •  This short biography of Levi Strauss tells the story of the man who became a legend because of his idea of how to create pants that were sturdy and durable. We get to learn how “jeans” acquired their name, how they‟ve been improved, and much more. Levi Strauss not only was a good businessman, but also a well known philanthropist whose generosity improved the lives of many people
    •  Gives insights into the life of Levi Strauss His hard work and dedication has been richly portrayed right through his childhood until his death The author uses simple language to present the story which engages the reader The story is precise yet contains all necessary information The other characters are presented in good light and show the bond they share amongst them
    • Levi Strauss born in Buttenheim was a peddler selling dry goods in 18 yearsof age Moved to New York in 1847 and continued peddling goods, planned moving to San Francisco Faced hardships but arrived at San Francisco and started doing business with David Stern(brother-in-law) Started selling „sturdy pants‟ to miners, denim was used(made in the French town of Nimes) which became very popular. Partnership formed amongst the Strauss brothers and David Stern.
    • Warehouse purchased at 14-16 battery street ;in a rapidly developing businesscentre. Introduced elevator-the first of its kind; showed great care of Levi‟s in the construction of the company “Levi‟s Strauss & Co.” The company survived many hurdles ,including the Earthquake of 1868 Only store to sell both clothing and dry goods on a wholesale basis and achieved recognition in newspapers(Chronicle) Discovery of copper rivets and patent done while partnership established with Jacob Davis
    • The copper rivets became a hit! The riveted denim pants were the original501jeans(indicates the lot number of the fabric. Trademarks-The two arc design, the leather patch(picture of two horses trying to tear apart a pair of Levi‟s pants and the red and white tab of „Levi‟s‟ In 1874 ,Levi‟s sold 5875 dozen riveted pants,vests,coats and shirts for $148,471 Made bold decisions to acquire „the Mission and Pacific Woolen Mills‟ and opening another manufacturing plant Levi‟s died on 26 September 1902, rated a millionaire and a generous person who donated a large part of his wealth
    •  The book made for an interesting read, lead me through the life of a famous person It was very precise ,engaging and words nicely put across Important quotations were provided at places which made the story authentic The positivity makes it a worth reading
