  • 9. What is Diabetes ?
    • A common condition
    • Amount of sugar in blood is too high
    • Normally we regulate blood sugar with insulin
    • Diabetes happens when not enough insulin is made
    • or the insulin does not work effectively
  • 10. Type 2 diabetes
    • Body still makes some insulin
    • Insulin does not work properly (insulin resistance)
    • Fat cells are resistant to insulin
    • Usually occurs in the over 40s
    • Runs in families

    • Ensure you get at least annual blood tests and urine tests
