  • 1. NephSAP Announcements Dear Colleagues: NephSAP is pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of two new topic editions. First, two prominent Pediatric Nephrologists, Drs. Howard Trachtman and Debbie Gipson, will be the co-guest editors of the January 2009 NephSAP edition on Pediatric Nephrology. They will summarize new developments in this important field and focus on issues in pediatric nephrology that are particularly relevant to the adult nephrologist. This new topic is being addressed in response to input from the ASN membership on areas that the membership felt needed particular emphasis by NephSAP. Another new edition is being prepared by Drs. Arif Asif and Anil Agarwal, experts in the field of Interventional Nephrology, in the July 2009 issue. This area of interest has grown rapidly over the past several years and more detailed discussion of new developments in vascular access issues, renal biopsy techniques, peritoneal dialysis catheter placement and maintenance, and renal vascular disease provide a rich source of material. Also, beginning in January 2009, the CME-providing aspect of NephSAP - success on the 25 multiple choice questions provided in each issue - will be conducted only in an electronic format. This is necessary for several reasons, including the ability to provide rapid feedback to examinees and for enhanced efficiency in maintaining the program. Stanley Goldfarb, MD, FASN, NephSAP Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey S. Berns, MD, FASN, NephSAP Deputy Editor
