After finding success with restaurant concepts such as the better burger joint Smashburger, Rick Schaden worked with restaurant entrepreneur Tom Ryan to open Tom’s Urban 24 in Denver. Rick Schaden takes an active role in the development of the restaurant, which has received a warm welcome from Denver’s downtown scene. Richard E. Schaden has also been a key figure in the growth of Smashburger and Live Basil Pizza.
In April of 2013, Denver’s Westword magazine reviewed Tom’s Urban 24. The review praised the atmosphere and menu of the place, which features Colorado-themed dishes like “fried chickenlooper,” named after Colorado governor John Hickenlooper.She particularly enjoyed the filet mignon pot pie, curly cavatappi, lemon-poppy seed pancakes, and barbecue, bacon, and cheddar burger. The reviewer also gave a thumbs up to the restaurant’s playful children’s menu and early 2013 menu redesign.
