Almost 20% of the users at Hyves didn’t provide information about their ageLinkedIn only has four predefined age groups. So every green bar is often a total of several age groups.

Hyves has a relatively young network, while the focus of LinkedIn seems to be between

  • 8. Men on Facebook, Hyves and LinkedIn
    Men on social networks
All networks have a peak in the age group 20-25(LinkedIn has a big peak in the 30-35 group which is the total of the 2-30 group and the 30-35 group)

  • 16. It seems that profiles are more complete on Facebook than on Hyves and LinkedIn
LinkedIn seems to be the most incomplete, however age and gender might not be that important on this network (you might be looking for a new job on this network, not for the love of your life)
Hyves is mainly dominated by women and Facebook by men
In general Facebook has an older audience, including an uptake in the 65+ group
The 65+ group on Facebook is more than in other groups dominated by men (60% men vs 40% women)
35% of the users on Facebook provided information about their relationship versus 29% on Hyves
What do these numbers tell us?
