  2. 2. Credit Suisse has hired Chris GaertnerfromBank of America Merrill Lynch as ahigh-ranking technology banker, thefirm announced in an internalmemorandum obtained by DealBook onTuesday.
  3. 3. When he starts in July, Mr. Gaertner willbecome a managing director and the head ofglobal corporate finance for the tech group,according to the memo from Mark Simonianand David Wah, Credit Suisse’s global co-heads of technology, media and telecominvestment banking.
  4. 4. At Merrill Lynch, which he joined in 2005,Mr. Gaertner advised Autonomy when itsold itself to Hewlett-Packard and LawsonSoftware when it was sold to Golden GateCapital. He led Merrill’s tech group from2006 to 2008.

  6. 6. Here’s the memo:Chris Gaertner Joins the Technology GroupWe are pleased to announce that ChrisGaertner will join Credit Suisse as aManaging Director and Head of GlobalCorporate Finance for the TechnologyGroup, effective in July. Chris will be basedin San Francisco and will report to us.
  7. 7. Chris most recently was a Managing Director in theTechnology Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Chrisjoined Merrill Lynch in 2005 and was Head of Merrill’sTechnology Group from 2006 to 2008. He has clientrelationships with many of the leading software,enterprise systems and Internet companies in thetechnology industry, including Adobe, Autodesk, BMCSoftware, eBay, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Infor, Intuit,Microsoft, Oracle, Rovi, SAP, Symantec, Active Networkand OpenTable. In 2011 Chris advised Autonomy on its$11bn sale to HP, Lawson Software on its $1.9bn sale toGolden Gate Capital, Solera on its $520mn acquisition ofExplore Information and Ansys on its $310mn acquisitionof APACHE. Chris has his CFA and received his M.B.A fromThe Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, hisM.S.E.E. from Columbia and his B.S.E.E. from the U.S.Military Academy at West Point.
