Please leave me, o Poverty
O poverty, please leave me. You are like a twin of mine, which I grew up with. I
learned to stand, to walk, and even to talk, but you are always there to stalk. Three
meals a day is a dream. One meal a day is like a party with my family, we have
coffee and rice to fill our tummy.
I was born and raised at the side of the railways. I run around with those loud
sounds produced by the cars that seems to be so far. I play with my toys made
from woods for we don’t even have enough money for our food. I spend my time
collecting garbage to have some money to fill my tummy. Money o money spare me
some money, I really need to fill my tummy. From my parents, I received loved,
the most precious gift that I could ever have. Their love, it made me strong, and
gone with the life that I have for so long. I wanted to study and finish a college
degree, but it seems to be impossible and so intangible. I have a dream to be free,
free from all the things that caused trouble to me.
Poverty you have always blocked our way, but I wish that someday I will find a
way, a way to freedom that seems to be so far. Freedom from poverty, I wanted to
experience a nice life badly. Three meals a day will satisfy me together with my
family.
