  • 1. Detailed explanation on diamond cuts and shapes Shopping for diamond can be tricky. It is not as simple as going and buying a god looking diamond. Diamonds are all about different shapes, sizes also authenticity. Diamonds, there price and there elegance all depends on diamond cuts. It is not shape, cut and shape are both different in there genres. Diamonds can be hard to pick. With so many varieties and so many types, cuts and carats it is not that easy to pick perfect sized pone for your perfect occasion. Diamonds are all about the four C’s. The four C’s are Colour, Carat, Cutting, and Clarity. Cuts and shapes are two different things all together. A cut gives desires shape to the diamond and determines the quality and is arranged in such a way that it generates maximum light possible On the other hand shape of diamond just describes the outline of any diamond. After all it is all about what the particular person prefers. The types of cut includes, Round cut, Mixed cut, Diamond cut, Princess cut, Emerald cut, Cushion cut, Asscher cut, Radiant cut, Marquise cut, Heart shaped, Pear shaped, also Oval shaped are some of the cuts and shapes of diamonds. Now let’s see some of them in detail. Round cut – Most widely known and widely used type of cut. Most sparkling, and wide varieties also all shapes are sparkled and gives maximum light. With fifty eight facets, it is best for all occasions.
  • 2. Step Cut – With facets on lower count compared to other cuts, it symbolises more linear pattern. They are generally in rectangular shape and give very elegant look to the whole set up. Princess Cut- Considered next to the very popular round cut, such cut diamonds are a bit rectangular in shape or more inclined towards square. The corners are pointed; ad with such arrangement of facets generates maximum brilliance for such type.
  • 3. Asscher cut- Widely popular in the early years of 19th century, such cut is more squared shaped compared to princess cut. They are also making their way back to the diamond market. Cushion cut – The reason it is called cushion cut is because of its rounded corners. Such corners give a unique pillow look to the diamond and the facets are large. Very elegant looking cut.
  • 4. Marquise cut – These type diamonds are more pointed or tapered as the technical term goes, that also on both the edges. These give the diamond a very unique shape. The other noticeable part of the long edged diamond looks bigger than regular sized diamond. So when placed on the ring such diamond looks bigger then the regular size but they are of same carat weight. Now some shapes to consider:Heart shape – heart shape diamonds is probably very well known by everyone. They make a good ring but also heart shape pendants are very widely recognised.
  • 5. Pear shape - The shape is very unique. It feels like a drop of water. rounded and blunt on one end and pointed on the other. Also, with the ring many prefer to wear such diamond as pendants for station necklaces. Just a diamond, as pendant and station necklace gives a very classy look to the neck. Oval shaped – The look is similar to regular round cut diamonds. They give a bit modern look. With slender look and huge preferences it can be a good choice of shape for people with distinctive personality.
  • 6. So, now with such insight on the cuts and shapes of diamond, one can be very clear about what type to buy and what can be fitted in the budget. Going blind for diamond shopping is not recommended. Always do your homework.
