Step 1 – Validating Windows Systems Configuration11‐0081
Minimum System Requirements • Operating System that runs VMware Player • 2 Gigabytes of RAM • 15 Gigabytes of hard drive space • Screen Resolution of 1280 x 1024 • Network connection with at least 256Kbps down & 64kbps up to the internet On the next few slides we will be walking you through the steps to verify your system meets the CyberNEXS distributed game requirements.11‐0081
Before you can compete in the practice or qualification rounds, you will need to verify that your computer is capable of running all of the software required to compete. In these slides, we are using Microsoft Windows XP; other Operating Systems will look differently. Now, click on “Start”11‐0081
This menu will appear; right click on the "My Computer" menu item.11‐0081
Here you see the "My Computer" menu items; click on the "Properties" item.11‐0081
The "System Properties" window will appear. This is where you can validate if your computer has enough RAM. You should have a minimum of 2 GB (gigabytes) RAM.11‐0081
A quick note on bytes, MB, GB, TB etc •A Kilobyte is 1,000 bytes •A Megabyte is 1,000 Kilobytes •A Gigabyte is 1,000 Megabytes •A Terabyte is 1,000 Gigabytes Therefore if you have 1,531 MB that would be approximately 1.5 GB11‐0081
Next we will validate if your computer has enough hard drive space available. Click on the "Start" menu item.11‐0081
This time, left click the "My Computer" menu item.11‐0081
When the “My Computer” window appears, look at the amount of free space remaining on your disk. It should be at least 15 gigabytes.11‐0081
You can also check the amount of free space you have by right clicking on your Local Disk (C:) and selecting “properties”11‐0081
You are now finished verifying your computer’s memory and disk space for the CyberNEXS requirements. You can proceed to the next step: Downloading ZIP and MD5 programs.11‐0081
