  • 1. 1 NAME : SHAH RUSHABH HEMANT ROLL NO. : 852 DISP. : S.Y.C.S TOPIC : CURING OF THE CONCRETE SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 852 SYCS
  • 2. CURING OF CONCRETE SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 8522 SYCS
  • 3. 3CONCRETE One of the most versatile materials for use in construction is one consisting of naturally occurring products which have been most readily available during the 20th century. This material is ultimately flexible in its practical applications. Capable of being formed into many varied shapes, dimensions, surface textures and aesthetic designs. This material can be designed to withstand enormous compressive, tensile and flexural loads. SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 852 SYCS
  • 4. 4WHAT IS CURING ? Curingis a procedure that is adopted to promote the hardening of concrete under conditions of humidity and temperature which are conducive to the progressive and proper setting of the constituent cement. SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 852 SYCS
  • 5. 5METHOS OF CURING SITE WORK : COLUMN ,BEAMS : RETAINING CAST IN SITUSITE GROUND SLAB ,WALL : CONSTANT FOG SPRAYINGSITE FLOORSLAB, PAVEMENTS : PONDINGFACTORY BLOCKS ,PAVIOURS : STEAM CURING SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 852 SYCS
  • 6. 6FOR CURING FOLLOWINGREQUIREMENTS ARE TO BEFULLFILLED The preservation of adequate water content in the concrete , which is essential for the process of hydration . To maintain the temperature above the freezing point . Protection of concrete structure from damages. Maintenance of uniform temperature in the whole mass. SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 852 SYCS
  • 7. 7OBJECTIVES OF CURING To reduce the shrinkage of the concrete To preserve the properties of concrete , such as impermeability, durability and strength To maintain uniform temperature of the concrete To maintain moisture content in the mix for complete hydration of concrete SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 852 SYCS

  • 9. 9DURATION OF CURINGFirst of all the concrete should not beallowed to dry fast in any situation. Thiscondition should be maintained for 24 hrs.the concrete cured for the long time willshow superior strength and develop othergood properties. However curing for longtime is a costlier process. The curing variesfor different structures, situationand differentatmospheric temperature . SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 852 SYCS
  • 10. 10For general guidance it can be said thatconcrete should be cured for at least sevendays This requirement applied to ordinaryportland cement and if rapid hardeningcement is used the period is reduce slightly. On the other hand, for low heat cement, the curing should be extended to 21 days .In cold weather regions , curing should becontinued for long time . SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 852 SYCS
  • 11. 11CONCLUSION It is false economy to neglect the correct curing program for all concrete items produced either on site or in factory processes. It is a fairly simple exercise to determine the correct selection of curing system needed for a particular application. However, it is a far easier selection to choose to cure a concrete structure or not. CURED CONCRETE QUALITYCONCRETE SHAH RUSHABH . H. ROLL NO. 852 SYCS
