CENTRAL PIEDMONT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Member of: NC Community College System Small Business Center Network (SBCN) • Comprised of 58 Small Business Centers within the state • Each serving as as a community based provider of training, counseling, and resource information in support of business growth and development.

CENTRAL PIEDMONT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Our Mission The CPCC Institute for Entrepreneurship seeks to increase the success of small business in Mecklenburg County by providing expert and readily accessible assistance to prospective and existing small business owners and their employees. The Institute will do this by creating and environment where entrepreneurial research, education and business support can flourish through education, training and counseling services.

  • 7. CENTRAL PIEDMONT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Confidential Business Counseling The Institute provides confidential counseling services for new and existing businesses. Available on an as-needed basis, this free, confidential service acts as a sounding board for ideas and concerns you may have about your business.

CENTRAL PIEDMONT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Student Success Jeannine Sargent, The Red Bow Student’s business plan for “The Red Bow,” (a holistic health club for women) won a $50,000 seed money award in a national business plan competition. Sargent’s plan was developed in the Institute’s New Ventures Entrepreneurial Certificate course. “I’ve been a lifelong student of Central Piedmont. Even though I have an MBA, I’ve been taking additional classes at CPCC since the early 80’s. I had the idea for my business in my head and the New Ventures Certificate class helped me articulate it and put it on paper.”

CENTRAL PIEDMONT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Student Success Brad Robinson, Kaizen Promotions “I took the New Ventures Entrepreneurship Certificate course, which taught me there’s a lot more to starting a business than I originally thought. The course taught me very practical steps that would allow me to do the right market research and start my business in the proper manner.”

CENTRAL PIEDMONT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Instructor Success Louis Foreman, CEO, Enventys Creator & Executive Producer, Everyday Edisons May of 2008 the hit PBS show “Everyday Edisons” received an Emmy award. The program focuses on inventors and the development process of their inventions. Louis shares his expertise with the Institute and takes its students from “From Concept to Commercialization” in the product development course taught at CPCC.
