Data Mining Thanks to the Internet, reducing costs of storing the data, cheaper computers and processors, specialized software and new means of communication, many companies collect data permanently during its normal operations, without knowing what to do with it. Data Mining is the result of the need to convert the collected data into useful knowledge and information. Data Mining identifies trends, key attributes or opportunities through two basic processes: a) Discover knowledge by extracting explicit information about the collected data, which can be used later. b) Prediction of future events on statistical models. The main Data Mining tasks are: Classified information in predefined groups. Clusters or groups of information not previously defined. Regression through a function that models the information with the minimum error, which allows the prediction.
